Audacious 3 and later compiled and released (.deb) in my repository
update: October 2013: From today, the latest version of Audacious available via GIT (to date, 3.5-devel), has just been completed on Ubuntu 13.10 and released, as usual, in repository.
The day before yesterday, I learn to this address, that after many months when the project seemed to have been permanently abandoned, due to the lack of updates, the developer of the multimedia player Audacious has just released a first alpha of the new version 2.0.
Audacious took a few years the witness of what was one of the oldest media players for Linux, xmms , copying the graphical interface and compatibility with Winamp skins.
Also, Unlike programs heavier and more complicated as Amarok, Audacious works out-of-the-box and do not need any special settings, especially if you use a compiled version with almost all plugins, that ensures the certainty of being able to play virtually any type of audio file.
More information is available on Audacious Wikipedia.
Having already compiled version 1.5.1 when it was released, I already have all the libraries to fill in 60 second is Audacious, both plugins.
It has been used Ubuntu Hardy i386, so there should be any particular problems to install it on newer versions of Ubuntu (but not older, if so just check in my repository the version 1.5.1 Audacious per di Gutsy 7.10).
Were filled out two separate packages. Deb, one for the program and one for all plugins.
E'inutile recall that, this is an alpha released just two days ago, there may be problems around the corner.
But who is a little… brave, can try to download it and install it, and in this way also help the developer, segnalandogli particular problems in this address.
To download Audacious 2.0 and later, you must go to my usual linux/osx repository, Ubuntu folder–>Audacious.
Welcome comments on the operation, pending releases and allows the developer to compile new versions.
