HOWTO : 3 foolproof methods to recover space on your Mac
Hard disk too complex to ever clean? Old computer and consequently, disk too small to keep up with the times?
in my case, for example, having an iBook 12”, I find myself with the original Hard disk 40GB, that has become very cramped.
What solutions can be?
1- Given that, with the introduction of the Mac-Intel, applications are released in the Universal Binary, containing both code compiled for Intel and for PowerPC, has dozens of different languages, to fit in all the countries, it goes without saying that there is so much crap, in our App, that we can clean.
In this case can come to our aid applications as Monolingual and Xslimmer. I work with a lot of satisfaction from the second. In any case, in both cases, you have to launch the program and start scanning, that will identify ALL the programs installed in the system. At that point you can decide whether to delete only the code architecture is not used (having a PPC, in my case is Intel), or even the languages different from Italian. 2- Whatsize. This program will analyze all your folders on Hard disk system, and will indicate the relative sizes next to each of them. At this point, spending a few minutes to explore the main, will jump to the eye folders “too swollen”. An example are the folders Cache, that after a few months tend to get really great. A godsend!

3- AppZapper. Okay think “different”, okay install applications with drag and drop, but the uninstall is not only to do the reverse operation, that is, drag the application to the trash. in fact, applications, during their life cycle in the computer, leave many traces in the system folders and user. Sometimes it's simple .plist file preferences, more often go to install plugins or have Cache folders that take up much space. With AppZapper, will simply drag the application to uninstall on AppZapper, that will detect any connection to the application with other folders, list them all, and allow you to choose what to delete.
