Netsons: my bad experience

hosting-server

** Disclaimer: As told is a single personal experience, and shall be taken for what it is, not generalize and make it a general rule on the services provided company. On the other hand, is ok to use the web to review any product, how can it be a web hosting. It goes without saying that an official replica of Netsons can only be welcomed, and indeed may be useful to help to create a constructive dialogue with a provider that, it must be said, gave me satisfaction for many years. **

You may have noticed, starting from 21 August 2013, a slowdown almost “tragic” response times and loading this site.

I was in Italy and, return, I was surprised to see such a tragic situation, in terms of the drop in visitors and response times (shown on Pingdom).

Da anni possedevo un account shared hosting su Netsons, and even before they start selling web space, I used their free account. In short, almost 8 years in a row on their servers, without having particular problems.

Unfortunately, in the last year or so, and I'm sorry to say, I have personally noticed a deterioration in terms of assistance (to my way of seeing, lower level compared to years ago), both sporadic problems down segnalatimi by Pingdom (that, some, can happen), that feature disabled suddenly (allowed, for safety reasons), and for which you have pretended that they were disabled THE FOREVER (In. Disabling escapeshellarg() ).

A warning bell is sounded at the end of 2012, when decisero (at least for shared hosting, I do not know for the other profiles), out of the blue, to enable a policy that had the total number of hits (number of uploaded files from the server) daily. Even my site ended in “meat grinder”. (more details in this thread of hostingtalk, where other users expose the problem)

Sites from the limited traffic that you are seen deliver the warning to overcome the daily hits within a few days, and invited to restrict, or to perform an upgrade, penalty of suspension of service.

obviously, asking for an explanation, was taken for granted that it was always like that, and not There were absolutely confirmations about the fact that the policy had been changed by a little.

This incredible hits daily limit on (which ensured very few daily visits) was disabled after a few days, a furor of people, with disgruntled customers and threatening cancellation (also on the official FB pages).

So we come down to the fateful 21 August 2013 (Coincidentally, the, in those days, there are no problems at MIX in Milan (FB link no longer valid)).
To see the graph, there seems to be in place a chapter resources, and on the other hand, the resources of cPanel show that the limits for CPU, I / O and entry processes are quite often exceeded, as shown in figure.

Here's how it appeared, according to cpanel, the site in August.

Here's how it appeared, according to cpanel, the site in August.

Noted as the limit of Entry Processes has suddenly dropped, between July and August, .. 20 A 10? The service lets you know that 20 era “an error”, and the limit has always been, by agreement, 10. It will be, I take note.

Start a lengthy question and answer session with the assistance, in which the only obvious things that came out, were:

– The QoS policy has not changed, has always been this.

– If I want to “optimize resources” for “il mio business”, I have to perform an upgrade to a more expensive service.

– The traffic is excessive, or some scripts create an excessive load on the server.

It was like bouncing off a wall of rubber.
In any case, I confirm that, while I was in Italy, someone has the inieittato malicious code.
IL traffic, On the other hand, and steady years and, Rather, because of the DAMNED slowdowns lasted nearly a month, was also dropped.

Needless to say, these details are of no use. According assistance, I “perform an upgrade“. but no.

In short, mysteriously, my site consumes too many resources. The reason? Unknown.

Wanting to meet such novelties, known that in the access log there were numerous bots and IP users “malicious” (almost all Chinese, Russian and Ukrainian) which wasted a band, loading many pages in a short time, looking for admin pages, etc.. etc..
Htaccess by Banno ALL IP ranges to Chinese, and will only access to all bots unnecessary accessed the day my site.

The result? cPanel no longer reports any slippage.

cpanel-resources-cap slow site even without exceeding the limits

Although past 24 hours without breaking LIMITS (cPanel indicated “your site had no issues in the last 24h”), the site continues to be appallingly slow, both for loading times, for that response times.

Here is the response time to 9 September, according to Pingdom. Note that the time increases dramatically from its 21 August.

response time 9 September

This is the Google Analytics reports, which shows the average load time of the site for August 2013, compared compared to August 2012, where it is clear that “something” happens in the second half of the month.

How is this possible? Stumble all assistance, and… sorry, our systems detect that she consumes too many resources, It Hew “optimize” (eh?) the site can perform an upgrade and, not, can not grant extra resources.
I do not have MORE requested additional resources for free in, beg leave to other.

In short, In NO way I was explaining why, while not breached the limits, the site continued to be slow. The initiation of the QoS or less, the site appeared very slow and unusable.

Start to give me a look around, it is known that other users (link to discussions on hostingtalk and Google ) encountered similar problems, and also the dates you have problems (End of August) seem to coincide.

At this point, pur essendo customer dal 2007 the pay service, and formerly of the free service, I believe that no stranger can treat me as a fool, and decide to turn to other suppliers at, moving the domain in the USA (taking advantage of a multi-year promotion Namesilo, for you too 1discount eur you need to register or transfer your domain name clicking on this address, and inserting, when ordering, the referral code flapanecom-off), e l’hosting in Italia.

Outcome? The site that “consuming too many resources” returned to have fast loading (1000ms) and said response time (700ms) normal. Charts are eloquent Pingdom.

As mentioned at the beginning of post, this is supposed to be the story of a (bad) single experience, It noted however that others have complained about similar problems. He does not want and can not be taken as an example to judge the overall services offered by Netsons. Everyone can take it believes that the considerations, but it was only right to tell what happened, because it made me lose almost a month, I could have used more profitably.
