2 Days in Paris: itinerary for a weekend in the City of Light

Two day itinerary in Paris

Last June, taking advantage of an offer of the Franco-Dutch airline Transavia, I've been to Paris for a quick two days.

La Gioconda, Our Lady, Montmartre, The Eiffel Tower, not to mention the Louvre… so many things to see, Cosi poco time!

The solution was mandatory: prepare meticulously the’itinerary, both in textual manner, that printing the generated maps with Google Maps, to lose as little time as possible.

Many monuments and museums can be visited free by EU citizens under 26 age.

The city is conveniently visit by metro, and the ticket, in relation to the capillarity of public transport, is priced embarrassing: 1,70eur single ticket, little more than the carnet from 13EUR 10 Tickets.

in my case, landing at Paris-Orly, the most immediate solution to access the meter was to take the bus 285 from the South Terminal, and get off, after 15 minutes, at the terminus, place just opposite the bus stop metro M7 (Louis Aragon). You should buy a carnet di 10 tickets each, which will be more than sufficient for two days.

Given the proximity (species considered where I live now), I got to fly several times to / all three Paris airports (Orly, Charles de Gaulle and Beauvais): to be honest, When I'm too tired, or simply the temperature does not allow it, I much prefer to move from one of three airports in Paris using taxi, so you do not have to worry about concidenze and various details.

Arranged their luggage, it is time to leave, camera around his neck, exploring the city!

The photos of the trip are available, Usual, in my gallery, A this address.

Regarding Parisian attractions that involve the purchase of a ticket (for example the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, o il Museo d’Orsay), I recommend that you skip the boring row al botteghino, and buy online!

We come to’route that I followed in these two days, in textual form, assuming that you have two full days, and leave in the morning of the third day:

1 day (red balloons):

  • Place Charles de Gaulle (Arc de Triomphe) (out in the homonymous metro station)
  • Champs Elysees
  • Place de la Concorde
  • Place Vendome (Hotel Ritz)
  • Rue Scribe (Opera National de Paris)

  • Trocadero (Take meter) (Eat a crepes with Trocadero gardens), climbs on the apron and you'll have a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower at sunset.
  • Eiffel Tower (two / three hours to climb, the price varies according to age, it is strongly advised to climb floor only place at mid-height, not worth the climb to the top)

2 day (blue balls):

  • Montmartre (M13 M2 up to Anvers)

in 1800 Montmartre was the damn neighborhood where they went penniless artists in search of fortune and the bourgeoisie bored with the ball of the prostitutes and the Moulin Rouge. A neighborhood irreverent, a city within a city, the hill that have elapsed in the lives of Picasso, Van Gogh e Modigliani.
Eat a crepes in Montmartre: the corner of the Moulin Rouge, in the direction of the characteristic rue Lepic, there are two sellers of crepes that have the lowest prices in all of Paris.

  • Basilica of the Sacred Heart
  • Place du Tertre
  • Rue Lepic (see the Moulin de la Galette)
  • The cemetery of Montmartre

The Montmartre Cemetery contains the tombs of great artists like Stendhal, Zola, Offenbach, Berlioz, Dumas e Truffaut.

  • Moulin Rouge (go on foot or by metro Blanche M2)
  • The cathedral of Notre-Dame (M2 Blanche to Barbes Rochechouart and changes with M4 to Cite (direzione Marie de Montrouge)

Admission in the Cathedral is free, while climbing the tower, to be 8.50 eur (above 26 age). The queue can be quite long, you've been warned! The ticket office is located, looking at the facade, on the left side.

  • Latin Quarter
  • Place / Boulevard Saint Michel (district's main street)
  • Viviani Square & Shakespeare & Company Library (English library)
  • Church of Saint-Séverin (Gothic church founded in the eleventh century. on a Merovingian necropolis)
  • Sorbonne University (try the Brasserie Balzar (49 rue des Ecoles))
  • Place du Pantheon (an imposing mausoleum that houses the tombs of France's most illustrious: da Voltaire Rousseau, end a Dumas and Zola)
  • Casa parigina di E.Hemingway (74 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine)
  • Rue Mouffetard (One of the area's main roads. Evaluate to dine in the area, There are restaurants for all budgets)

Some may turn up their noses, not seeing the itinerary Musée d'Orsay and the Jardin du Luxembourg. Unfortunately, when times are so tight, have to make choices, and I personally believe that, in two days, beyond a quick visit to the Louvre, could not be disregarded from walking, walk, walk, and “live” la capitale francese.

And you, as you are planning your short stay in Paris?
