2 Days in Milwaukee: what to do in the city of Fonzie?
Anyone who has seen Happy Days, can not not know the name of this (cold) City of Midwest americano, precisely in Wisconsin.
La realtà, is much less “poetics”: le case ed, in general, all the other sets of the show, were, for obvious reasons, a Los Angeles! 🙂
Although the city is very closely linked to the show (the character of Fonzie, interpretato da Henry Winkler, is immortalized in a statue in the city center, The Bronze Fonz), Indeed, especially for Americans, is the symbol of two things “very american”: the Miller Beer e l’Harley Davidson.
If the first, in Europa, is practically unknown (no fear, we do not lose anything!), the second is a trademark of motorcycles among the most appreciated in the world. A lifestyle, I dare say.
Well, seen that the’Harley Davidson has its own museum in the city, and you can take a tour of the Miller Brewery (in the style of one of the Brooklyn Brewery a New York, which I have already spoken), why not take a leap in city?
It can be reached easily from Chicago, in less than a couple of hours, spending a pittance, using the service offered by Megabus. some, you have to put in a little quote’ of incoming and outgoing traffic from Chicago, in rush hour but, Once in the open road, sulla Interstate 94, we can observe bucolic landscapes film (those who have never seen the famous barns with silos, o i serbatoi d’acqua, typical of small town America?).
Can you send, free, a guide book at home, directly from the Tourist Office. Mica male, not?
Personally, Board of spend two days (Indeed, a day and a half, and then again). There are more than enough to see the main attractions.
If you really want, in estate, you can add another half a day to visit the Wisconsin State Fair, else typically American, although I recommend the Iowa State Fair, of which I will speak in the post dedicated to Des Moines.
I found excellent rooms at the b&B Schuster Mansion, villa of '800 recently restored, place just west of Downtown. Rooms clean and gorgeous and, if desired, owners, Rick&Laura, may organize an afternoon tea in Victorian style, and are ready to answer any question the most unprepared tourist!
It can be reached easily with public transport bus (fermata Wisconsin&32nd St). Also, has the advantage of being just minutes away from the Miller Valley, where is the seat of Miller Beer, of which it is possible to visit the headquarters.
as always, before returning the’itinerary (e la Google Map), to get an idea of the places, You can take a look at my photo gallery of Milwaukee.
