3 days in Vienna: what to see absolutely?
the capital the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, whose citizens show a slight melancholy for a greatness now far, showed me, quest’ultima estate, its best side: What's better than long days, good weather, and two imperial palaces (Schönbrunn and Hofburg) .. visit?
some, there is no longer the unfortunate and unhappy Princess Sissi who wanders the halls (those rare times that lived in Vienna and was not traveling for the empire), and it is forbidden to make any photograph inside the two imperial palaces, but I assure you a visit to Vienna is a must, especially to visit the Hofburg and Schönbrunn, but not only! Elegant streets, the beautiful Kunsthistorisches Museum, containing the Habsburg collections, not to mention the St. Stephen's Cathedral, the cathedral from the bell tower Mozart became aware of being deaf.
and, about Stephansdom, here is a video I shot even as they sounded the bells, at the Sunday Mass:
Do not forget that Vienna, in more recent times, fra la fine del 1800 and the beginning of 1900, was the cradle of Vienna Secession, movement to break with the artistic canons of the past. One of the “leader” of this movement was Gustav Klimt: anyone who has studied, Also in high school, History, can not not know his most important paintings, The Kiss and Judith. Both paintings are on display at Belvedere. Although the price of access is not exactly cheap, I strongly suggest you visit at least the Upper Belvedere… your eyes and your soul will thank you!
Unfortunately, that both the Belvedere rather than the Hofburg, I assure you that the queues in the major Viennese museums are really long! I recommend you do like me, and ahead of the game, jumping queues. Personally, I bought the ViennaCard of 72 hours, perfectly adapted to a trip 3 days in Vienna, and offers subscription to the entire public transport network, besides a lot of discounts for museums and attractions that I visited, and that I will list, fra little, the list of the route I followed.
Are seven short di budget, as well as relax in the beautiful park Prater or in the Stadtpark, you may visit the grave of some of the classical musicians the most famous in the world: Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Johann Strauss Father Father and son, and Brahms. The two cemeteries (Zentralfriedhof e St. Marx Cemetery) are not exactly in the city center, but it will show you exactly where to take public transport, so go without fail. 🙂
IL public transport, as in all cities German-, is excellent: metropolitan splitting the minutes, tram, bus, and so on, and so forth! It, come me, choose to buy the ViennaCard, you will not need to buy any ticket for public transport.
To plan your routes, you can refer to the route planner, on official website of the Wiener Linien.
The photo of my 3 days in Vienna are available, as always, in my gallery, A this address.
