1 day in Lüneburg: what to do in the beautiful Hanseatic city
Italy, it is true, had the Maritime Republics, but in Northern Europe were not there to watch!
In the Middle Ages, in fact, the city that faced the Baltic Sea (the, however, were located in the surroundings), created a league to defend their interests: the lega anseatica.
particularly, a few tens of kilometers just to the south of Hamburg (of which I already talked a few months ago), is a beautiful town, who founded his wealth on salt trade: Lüneburg (Italian for friends, Luneburgo) :).
The name may be unknown or almost in Italy, but Lüneburg has thrived for centuries, due to its location on the river Ilmenau and the proximity to the sea, that allowed him to transport salt in all of Northern Europe.
Present Day, with more modesty, especially in summer, is the destination of the residents of Hamburg, Lubeck and Outskirts, that, nei week end, go to rest his beautiful lawns (Lüneburg Heath) or to make cycling.
In alternative, you can immerse yourself in its history almost millenarian, as I did (I challenge you to sunbathe on the lawns in winter, in Germany!), and visit its many churches, beautiful Municipality (Town hall) where you can take a guided tour, walk in alleys bedecked timbered houses.
IL “benefit”, if we want to, is the size of the old town really reduced, that allows us to Heath visit in a day (the poco meno, if we avoid guided tours).
The city, as I mentioned, is one hour of scarce S-Bahn from Hamburg Regional . From the Airport, simply take the S1 to the central station (Central Station), and then one of the many regional trains direct to Heath.
To save time, you can buy ticket online, on the official website of the public transport Hamburg, cost of about 8 euro. You must choose the ticket that covers the entire metropolitan area of Hamburg (Total area).
Once at the station, you can easily get to the center on foot, once crossed the river Ilmenau.
Both as regards the reservation of guided tour the beautiful Town hall, that for miscellaneous information, you can refer to site tourist office Heath (Unfortunately, German).
We come to’itinerary I followed a day in poor, that allowed me to visit the main tourist attractions the city (excluding the Museum of Salt and, given the climate, and monitors the works Lüneburg Heath).
The photo best of my visit I loaded, Usual, in my gallery, to this address.
